When an IT director walks me through an upcoming M&A, the first thing they usually flag is timeline pressure. They need the tenant move done without dragging out the integration or hitting user productivity hard.
I have seen how easy it is to underestimate the back-and-forth between source and target identities. One mismatched account and permissions start landing in the wrong place, which then shows up in the middle of cutover.
The teams that keep things on track spend real time on a pilot that actually tests the messy cases, shared mailboxes, delegates, and cross-team calendars, before anything goes live. That step surfaces the real constraints early.
What has surprised you most about how long these projects actually take once you factor in the identity side?
