Microsoft 365 Migration Services

LeadThem Consulting has been delivering Microsoft 365 migrations since 2005. As a long-standing Quest Software partner, we use Quest On Demand Migration (ODM) to move Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and Entra ID in a single coordinated workflow. Whether the driver is an acquisition, a divestiture, or a long-overdue move off on-premises Exchange, we have run that project before and we know where it breaks.

Our approach is methodical: discovery and dependency mapping before a single object moves, coexistence routing so mail flows during the transition, batch scheduling built around your business calendar, and cutover validation before users are switched over. That sequence is not optional. It is what separates migrations that land quietly from the ones that generate a flood of helpdesk tickets on Monday morning.

ODM is a component of Quest Secure Migration, the migration solution within the Quest Security Management Platform. The platform also covers Quest Identity Security and Resilience, the recovery and threat-detection solution LeadThem operates for clients who want continuous protection of their Microsoft 365 and Entra ID environment after the migration.

Microsoft 365 tenant-to-tenant migration

The most common Microsoft 365 migration driver today is a merger, acquisition, or divestiture that leaves two tenants that need to become one. Quest On Demand Migration handles Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) in one coordinated job. LeadThem manages the full engagement: discovery, object mapping, coexistence routing, batch scheduling, and cutover validation. ODM preserves multi-factor authentication, Conditional Access policies, sensitivity labels, retention policies, and eDiscovery holds through the cutover, so security and compliance posture do not regress when users land on the new tenant.

Native Microsoft cross-tenant tooling covers Exchange mailbox moves and requires manual work for Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive. Quest ODM handles all four workloads in one workflow, which is why it is the right tool for any acquisition or consolidation that involves more than email.

Exchange Online migration

Moving from on-premises Exchange to Exchange Online is more than copying mailboxes. LeadThem manages directory synchronization, mail routing coexistence, calendar and contacts fidelity, public folder migration, and cutover coordination with your IT team. We support both hybrid Exchange configurations and direct cutover scenarios depending on your timeline and risk tolerance.

Entra ID and identity migration

Every Microsoft 365 tenant migration has an identity component. Whether you are consolidating Entra ID directories after an acquisition, moving from on-premises Active Directory to Entra ID, or restructuring guest access and Conditional Access policies for a new tenant architecture, LeadThem handles the identity layer using Quest On Demand Migration and Migrator Pro for Active Directory. We manage device migration, cross-forest trusts, and hybrid coexistence so users authenticate without interruption.

Legacy platform migrations

Some organizations are still running IBM and HCL Notes and Domino, or GroupWise. LeadThem has migrated users off both platforms into Microsoft 365. Using Quest's Migrator for Notes to Exchange, we move mailboxes, calendars, contacts, and journals to Exchange Online with full fidelity. GroupWise to Exchange Online migrations are available as a specialist engagement. These projects require engineers who know the source platform's data model, and that is work LeadThem has been doing since before Microsoft 365 existed.

Talk to a migration architect
What does an M365 tenant-to-tenant migration involve?
Moving mailboxes, OneDrive content, SharePoint sites, Teams (channels, chats, and files), and Entra ID identities from one Microsoft 365 tenant into another. Engagements run alongside an Active Directory or Entra consolidation when the underlying identity also needs to move.
How long does an M365 tenant migration take?
Most tenant-to-tenant migrations run six to twelve weeks for a mid-market customer (one thousand to ten thousand mailboxes). Enterprise-scale migrations with significant SharePoint and Teams content can run three to six months. Quest On Demand Migration runs the data move in waves on a schedule that keeps users productive throughout.
What gets migrated in an M365 tenant migration?
Exchange Online mailboxes, calendars, contacts, and rules. OneDrive for Business content with permissions. SharePoint site collections including page content and permissions. Teams channels, chat history, file libraries, and app pinning. Entra ID users, groups, and conditional access policies.
Do mailboxes stay online during the migration?
Yes. Quest On Demand Migration provides coexistence between the source and target tenants so mail flows in both directions until each user is cut over. Free/busy lookups, MailTips, and address book lookups continue to work across tenants during the project.
What Quest tool does LeadThem use for Microsoft 365 migrations?
Quest On Demand Migration (ODM). ODM is the SaaS migration platform for Microsoft 365 tenant-to-tenant moves and covers mail, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, and identity in one console. LeadThem architects size and configure the tenant, then run the migration waves.
