Quest Active Administrator Training

Quest Active Administrator (currently v8.8.1, actively supported) is the day-to-day operations console for Active Directory: delegated administration, replication health, Group Policy oversight, and the workflows that keep a production AD environment running. It sits in the AD operations stack alongside Quest Change Auditor and Quest GPOAdmin, outside the new Quest Security Management Platform but central to the same teams. This is the end-to-end class for administrators who own that stack.

The course is available as live instructor-led training (ILT) or as self-paced student-led training (SLT) through the virtual training center. Note that qsftraining.com lists this course as "Active Administration"; the Quest product itself is "Active Administrator", and that is the name we use in the field.

Quest Active Administrator

Two-day hands-on course covering installation, policy development, and the implementation planning a team needs before rolling Active Administrator into production. Designed for the support personnel who will own the tool after deployment.

• Duration: 2 days instructor-led, or self-paced equivalent
• Audience: Active Directory administrators and support personnel responsible for AD operations, delegation, Group Policy, and approval workflows
• You will learn to: install Active Administrator including replication servers and the web interface, develop policies for attribute implementation, customize the web interface, build workflows, and put together an end-to-end implementation plan for your user base
• Format: hands-on lab time in a working virtual training environment, plus development of implementation plans, policies, and workflows you can take back to production
• Prerequisites: none specified
• Tuition: $2,730 USD per student

Where Active Administrator fits in the Quest portfolio

Active Administrator is part of Quest's Active Directory operations stack, alongside Change Auditor (real-time AD change auditing) and GPOAdmin (Group Policy lifecycle management). These products sit outside the Quest Security Management Platform launched in April 2026, but they are run by the same AD teams that operate Quest Identity Defense (formerly Security Guardian) and Recovery Manager for Active Directory within Quest Identity Security and Resilience. Operators who finish the Active Administrator class are the natural audience for the Identity Security and Resilience training next.
